Project requirement

A German industrial equipment manufacturer specified two cylindrical filter parts made from AISI 304 (1.4301) woven stainless mesh. The mesh opening was 800 µm with 250 µm wire. The two required sizes were 32 mm long × 22 mm diameter and 49.6 mm long × 26 mm diameter. The proposed volume was 4,000 pieces of one size and 10,000 of the other, subject to sample approval.

Engineering question

At these diameters, the seam and any surface treatment can affect roundness and final fit. The sample review therefore needs to check the mesh specification, finished outside diameter and length, seam build-up, and surface condition against the customer's acceptance criteria. The planned volume also makes repeatable forming and inspection important.

Project status

Custom mesh cylinder samples were delivered for evaluation. The proposed 4,000-piece and 10,000-piece volumes describe the planned program; this case does not claim those full production quantities were shipped.

Design review

This project combines a stated 800 µm opening and 250 µm wire with two small cylinder sizes. The next production review should compare finished diameter, length, seam profile and roundness against the equipment seat, then agree how representative samples will be checked before any larger program.

Inspection and acceptance

Delivered samples establish that parts were made for evaluation. The proposed 4,000- and 10,000-piece figures are planned volumes, not proof of shipment. A repeat order needs the approved sample, controlled drawing and acceptance record to remain the reference.
