Project requirement

An Indian irrigation buyer requested screen filter elements in two size families, 3/4 in × 1 in and 1.5 in × 2 in. Each was considered at 30, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mesh, creating ten size/rating combinations. The enquiry included sample availability, minimum order quantity and both DDP and EXW pricing terms.

Engineering question

The rating list is useful for a sample program, but mesh count alone does not specify the aperture: wire diameter and weave also matter. The buyer and manufacturer should confirm the mating housing dimensions, end details and target particle size before choosing a screening grade. Sample acceptance can then be tied to fit and filtration requirements instead of the mesh label alone.

Project status

The irrigation-screen project was delivered. The specification review considered two sizes and five mesh counts, establishing ten options for selecting screens to suit the irrigation equipment.

Design review

Two element sizes and five mesh-count options create ten discussed combinations, but the open aperture also depends on wire diameter and weave. Check the housing seat and end treatment for each size before judging interchangeability. The proposed mesh grades should be compared with the actual irrigation solids and cleaning method.

Inspection and acceptance

A repeat-order schedule should list the selected size, mesh count, wire diameter, aperture and quantity for each line item. Match the seating ends and installed length to the housing, then use the approved screen specification to identify each replacement.
