Project requirement

A customer in the Netherlands requested approximately 370 SS316 nozzle mesh discs in diameters of 24, 19, 15, 11, 9 and 7 mm. Both fine and coarse mesh versions were discussed. The supplied thread counts were approximate: about 21 threads in 24 mm for the fine mesh and 15 for the coarse mesh.

Engineering question

For a disc only 7–24 mm across, a cut edge is a large share of the component. The customer specifically raised the risk of wires coming loose after cutting. The production review should settle the mesh specification, edge treatment, finished diameter tolerance and whether a plain cut or retained edge is acceptable in the nozzle assembly. An approximate thread count should not be silently converted into a precise filtration rating.

Project status

The nozzle mesh-disc project was delivered. The initial enquiry covered approximately 370 pieces across six diameters, with fine and coarse mesh versions.

Design review

The 7–24 mm disc diameter range makes cut-edge integrity and repeatable handling central to the design. Decide whether an open cut, retained rim or other edge treatment is compatible with each nozzle seat. Coarse and fine mesh versions should be specified by actual weave and wire dimensions, not by an approximate wire count alone.

Inspection and acceptance

The project was delivered, but the approximate 370-piece request is an initial scope unless matched to shipping records. Wire retention and installed fit should be accepted by an agreed sample or inspection method. The case does not supply measured filtration efficiency for the nozzle assembly.
