Product details

Define the filtering surface

For square weave, specify aperture and wire diameter where possible. For dense weave, provide the weave and complete media designation. If the disc is described by a micron rating, identify the source and test basis. Mesh count alone does not define the finished part.

Match the support to the assembly

A single mesh layer may be sufficient when the equipment supports the screen. Multilayer discs add support or drainage where fine mesh would otherwise deform. Perimeter joining keeps the layers in register during handling and installation.

Specify the edge and installed fit

Open cut edges suit parts captured securely by the equipment. Joined edges reduce layer movement. A rim or frame strengthens the perimeter but adds thickness and reduces the available filtering area. The housing groove, gasket and clamping arrangement determine the appropriate construction.

Applications

Housings, valves & strainers

Flat mesh screens seated in a housing, valve or strainer assembly. The equipment defines the support, clamping and seal around the disc.

Polymer processing

Mesh discs used in polymer equipment with a specified layer sequence and support arrangement. Review flow direction and the operating conditions with the equipment requirements.

Laboratory & process assemblies

Compact flat screens for laboratory and process assemblies where outline, media identity and installed fit must be defined together.

Filter element subcomponents

Drawing-defined discs integrated into a larger filter element. Confirm the mating surfaces, joining method and how the filtering layer is supported.

Questions about wire mesh filter discs

Can you produce discs with a center hole or irregular outline?

Yes. Supply a drawing with datums, dimensions, tolerances and edge requirements so the profile and installed fit can be reviewed.

Will the mesh fray after cutting?

That depends on the weave, wire and handling. A joined or framed edge can be specified where edge stability is important.

Can different alloys be layered together?

Mixed-material assemblies require review for service compatibility, joining and potential galvanic effects.

Is mesh count enough to specify the filter disc?

No. Include the weave, aperture and wire diameter where applicable, along with material, layer arrangement, edge finish and drawing dimensions. A stated micron rating also needs its source and test basis.
