Geometry, support and flow direction
The truncated cone retains a sloping wall while ending at a finite small diameter. Large diameter, small-end diameter and axial length define the taper; the end closure is a separate drawing item. A perforated end adds screening area, while a solid end redirects flow through the sidewall. The longitudinal seam and end joint form the complete load-bearing shell.
