Materials: 304 / 316L stainless steel for the cap and stem; gasket material selected for the liquid and cleaning chemistry.

Product details

A slotted cap at the filter bed boundary

The profile-wire cap retains the filter medium while liquid passes through the continuous slots. Its working surface, closed end and mounting neck form one fitted component. The nozzle is positioned on the filter plate or manifold at the media boundary.

Cap, stem and installation plate

Short-stem, long-stem and double-ended tubular constructions accommodate different plate and collection arrangements. The installation drawing records cap diameter, active height, stem projection and the plate thickness. Nuts and washers secure the stem; the specified gasket seals the plate joint.

Wedge wire nozzle cap and mounting hardware
Dimension the active cap separately from the stem projection and gasket seat.

Service flow and backwash

Mark service and reverse-wash arrows on the assembly drawing. Cap slot width is selected for the retained media, while the stem bore and any distribution opening define a separate part of the hydraulic path. Nozzle quantity and spacing belong to the vessel layout.

Material and component schedule

Specify 304 or 316L stainless steel for the cap, stem and joining parts. Match the gasket to the water and cleaning chemistry. Keep the active slot area clear of the plate seat, retaining hardware and adjacent components so each nozzle has its intended exposed surface.

Inspection and replacement

Check slot width on the working face, cap-to-stem alignment, thread fit, overall projection and the sealing seat. A replacement drawing includes the original plate opening and access below it. Package the slotted cap separately from loose nuts and washers to protect its profile wires.

Applications

Filter-bed underdrains

Slotted caps retain bed media while stems collect filtrate below the installation plate.

Ion-exchange vessels

Nozzles separate resin from collection passages and connect to the vessel drainage layout.

Distribution and backwash

Stem and cap arrangements connect the defined service and reverse-wash flow paths.

Selection guide

Include these details when discussing your requirements.

Retained medium
Choose slot width against the smallest media fraction and the service flow direction.
Stem layout
Match stem length and bore to plate thickness, access and collection space.
Flow path
Coordinate the cap, stem opening, nozzle spacing and backwash arrangement.
Sealing joint
Define the gasket seat and retaining hardware around the actual plate opening.

Frequently asked questions

Is a filter nozzle the same as a spray nozzle?

A filter nozzle has a slotted retaining surface. Its cap retains media while its stem carries the liquid path.

Which dimensions control replacement fit?

Cap diameter, active height, stem length, thread, plate thickness and the compressed sealing joint define the fit.

How is the slot specified?

State the narrow working-face opening and its tolerance, together with the retained media and flow direction.

What distinguishes a long stem?

A long stem provides the required projection through the plate and into the collection or distribution space.

How are metal and seals specified?

Identify cap and stem grades separately, then specify the gasket for the process liquid and cleaning chemistry.
