Screen packs for recycled polymer melt
Recycled polymer feed can carry variable contamination. Screen pack layer sequence, changer geometry and pressure-rise limits should be set for the resin and actual line conditions.
Process inputs
Record polymer type, regrind fraction, melt temperature, throughput and the contamination encountered. Compare pressure rise and screen change frequency at similar conditions rather than treating mesh count as a complete performance measure.
Layer design
A fine woven layer can be paired with coarser support and drainage layers. The support mesh, edge joining and total stack thickness must fit the breaker plate or continuous changer. Additional layers can increase resistance if the sequence is poorly chosen.
Information for quotation
Provide an existing pack, each known mesh designation and wire diameter, outside shape, holes or tabs, total thickness, changer model, flow direction and target change interval. Trial packs can establish the repeat-order construction.
