Screen packs

Multilayer screen packs

Multilayer screen packs combine a filtering mesh with selected support and drainage layers in one installable assembly. The layer sequence is designed around the process, pressure direction, equipment interface and handling method rather than a fixed number of screens.

Metal wire mesh
Filter media
Specified retention mesh with protective or support layers
Layer arrangement
Upstream-to-downstream sequence defined on the drawing
Edge finish
Loose stack, joined perimeter or rimmed construction
Material
Stainless steel grade or specified alloy agreed for the application

Share a drawing, reference sample or application requirements to discuss the configuration.

Product details

Construction and filtering function

A screen pack combines layers with different functions. The fine layer retains particles, while coarser layers provide protection, support or drainage. Adding layers does not automatically improve filtration: an unsuitable sequence can restrict flow or leave fine mesh unsupported. Define the function of every layer.

Installation and fit

Provide screen-changer or breaker-plate dimensions, pack outline, holes, total thickness and flow direction. Identify the current sequence when requesting a replacement.

Operating conditions and maintenance

For polymer service, include resin, recycled content, additives, melt temperature, throughput and the pressure trend. Compare replacement intervals under the same process conditions.

Inspection and order confirmation

Confirm the drawing revision, material designation, critical dimensions and inspection documents before manufacture. Agree how media identity, joints, edges and cleanliness will be checked. If a sample or first article is required, define the approval step before repeat production. Flow, pressure or retention testing must include the test method and acceptance limit; appearance alone does not verify filtration performance.

Applications

Plastic extrusion

Layered screens matched to the melt path, screen changer and breaker plate.

Recycling lines

Review contaminant load and pressure rise alongside the selected retention layer.

Process filtration

Compact layered elements where the equipment provides a defined seat and support.

Product questions

How many layers should a screen pack contain?

There is no universal layer count. Retention, support, drainage, pressure direction and the available installation thickness determine the sequence.

How is the material selected?

Provide the process fluid or gas, temperature, cleaning chemicals and corrosion exposure. The grade must suit every wetted component, including supports, joints and seals. Final compatibility is confirmed against the actual service conditions.

What is needed for a quotation?

Provide screen-changer or breaker-plate dimensions, pack outline, holes, total thickness and flow direction. Identify the current sequence when requesting a replacement. Also include material, operating conditions, required quantity and any sample or inspection-document requirements.

Can inspection records be supplied?

Material records, dimensional inspection and other agreed documents can be included in the order scope. Specify traceability, document type and any special testing before quotation.
