Sintered mesh filter discs: construction

Bonded wire-mesh layers form a rigid disc or annular element. The media family covers 2–100 µm grades, with the laminate construction and test method recorded for each grade. The perimeter seat and seal close the route around the filtering layer.

Sizing and service for sintered mesh filter discs

The disc drawing defines the outside profile, thickness, flatness, central opening and mounting features. Cut, welded and framed edges have separate seating details. The assembly specifies support contact, feed face, fluid, flow, operating differential pressure and cleaning chemistry.

Assembly inspection

The inspection record identifies the material, finished dimensions, joining surfaces and sealing interfaces. Measurements follow the installed geometry and the stated test conditions.

Integration with the filter assembly

A small flat disc, an annular disc and a segmented process filter plate share a bonded mesh medium but use different mounting structures. A one-piece disc sits on a continuous peripheral seat; a segmented plate adds joints, support ribs and individually located sections. In process filtration and drying equipment, the backing plate supports the laminate and the sealing system closes the perimeter and segment joints. Central openings, bolt holes and edge welds are positioned outside the defined active filtering field. Product drawings identify the feed face and the support face so the plate is installed in the designed flow orientation.

Selection guide

Include these details when discussing your requirements.

Confirm the installation
Disc OD or profile, thickness, flatness and any centre hole or mounting features to drawing. Plain cut, welded perimeter or captured frame; confirm support contact and flow side.
Choose the filtering surface
Selected sintered-mesh constructions offer 2–100 µm grades; grade labels must be paired with the specified test basis and finished-disc inspection.
Check the process duty
State fluid, flow, allowable clean/loaded differential pressure and cleaning chemistry for the full installed stack.
Set acceptance
The inspection record identifies the material, finished dimensions, joining surfaces and sealing interfaces. Measurements follow the installed geometry and the stated test conditions.

Applications

Cleanable process strainers

A rigid laminate is easier to handle than a loose multilayer stack when the part is regularly removed.

Powder and liquid screening

Select a tested medium grade and support arrangement suited to the solids and viscosity.

Replacement filter discs

Match the original disc thickness and sealing land before adopting a different porosity grade.
