Perforated filter support cores

A perforated filter support core is the load-bearing and drainage structure behind a flexible or pleated filtering medium. It keeps the media in position, transfers differential-pressure loads and provides a flow path to or from the clean side of the element.

Product details

Construction and filtering function

A perforated core supports the filter medium and provides passages for the fluid. It is not a fine filtering layer unless its holes themselves meet the required separation duty. Hole size, open area, wall thickness, seam and end support must be considered together; maximum open area is not always the strongest construction.

Installation and fit

Provide outside and inside diameters, length, wall thickness, end condition, roundness and mating-part tolerances. Define whether the core supports inward or outward pressure.

Cylindrical wire mesh and perforated constructions for comparing media and support.

Operating conditions and maintenance

Review differential pressure, buckling risk, flow distribution and contact with fine media. Burrs and protruding joints can damage the filter layer, so surface and edge requirements belong on the drawing.

Inspection and order confirmation

Confirm the drawing revision, material designation, critical dimensions and inspection documents before manufacture. Agree how media identity, joints, edges and cleanliness will be checked. If a sample or first article is required, define the approval step before repeat production. Flow, pressure or retention testing must include the test method and acceptance limit; appearance alone does not verify filtration performance.

Applications

Cartridge cores

Internal support for pleated or cylindrical media, matched to the load direction.

Protective sleeves

Outer protection where handling or external contact could damage the filtering surface.

Basket supports

Perforated bodies used with a separately specified mesh liner.

Product questions

Is a perforated support core itself a fine filter?

Usually it serves a structural function. Fine separation is provided by the specified mesh or other medium unless the perforations are expressly designed as the filtering openings.

How is the material selected?

Provide the process fluid or gas, temperature, cleaning chemicals and corrosion exposure. The grade must suit every wetted component, including supports, joints and seals. Final compatibility is confirmed against the actual service conditions.

What is needed for a quotation?

Provide outside and inside diameters, length, wall thickness, end condition, roundness and mating-part tolerances. Define whether the core supports inward or outward pressure. Also include material, operating conditions, required quantity and any sample or inspection-document requirements.

Can inspection records be supplied?

Material records, dimensional inspection and other agreed documents can be included in the order scope. Specify traceability, document type and any special testing before quotation.
